I try to write about three times per week. Most of it is pretty good and will probably help you grow your business. If it doesn't, then I probably can't help you.

You can use a traditional RSS Feedreader with this fancy-dancy link. I think this approach is harder but if you want to do it the hard way, who am I to say otherwise?

Are you communicating or talking?

How often do you truly listen to what others have to say? How often do you really take the time to understand their point of view? We should all try to see how our responses to others demonstrate we either care or we are ignoring.

Dog People Are Born Not Made

Last year I had a hair-brained idea that we'd get a dog. I had dogs growing up and I remember that I loved them. However, Jen and I had always agreed that we weren't dog people. We never wanted to have to worry about them.

Designing the User Experience

Sometimes, it is the simplest of design changes they can make all the difference in the world. Simply being able to use the car key to turn off the car alarm or a larger bag for a tent can make the user experience so much better.

I Hate Online Malls

My advice, don't use an online mall. Avoid them at all costs. They are a waste of money. There are too many free places to list your site and Google is really where you want to be.

Spirit Airlines is ignoring the story in social circles. Even if their policy is very clear, the cost of not refunding the $197 is way too high. They have a real PR crisis here… what will they do to fix it?

Customer Experience

It doesn't matter if you are a grocery store, an oil change shop or a toothbrush specialist. If you create an experience that your target audience will love, they will continue to come back and buy more from you.

Excellent Customer Service Isn't Enough

We all think that if we strive for customer satisfaction levels of 90% or 95% that our sales will increase. That is not really the way it works. Those who are obsessed with satisfaction are focusing on the wrong metric.

Losing on Mailing Lists

Be careful when you buy your mailing lists because you might be sending mail to an address that will end up being nothing but a waste of time and money for you. In other words, mailing lists can be a big fail for you.

The Grape Drink Everyone Forgot

For over 100 years, a grape drink that tasted like a cross between "horse slop and river sludge" and that you had to "sneak up on it to get it down” has had a lasting impact on aviation history of Austin, Texas and I bet that no one knows that.

Political Correctness Makes Us Losers

When we worry about being politically correct, we find that we are always trying to figure out who we are going to offend next. We worry that if we say something that the ignorant will get offended because they think we intended to hurt someone else.

Take a Breath

Sometimes we get so overwhelmed that we can only see the trees right in front of us and, all too often, if we’d just look beyond a little we’d be surprised to find that the edge of the forest is only a short distance off.
